Gordon Lalonde, Sr.

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Gordon L. Lalonde, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rev. Msgr. Paul Metrejean will celebrate the Mass.
Gordon was a native of Arnaudville and a longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at his residence at the age of 75. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He was a Sheriff Deputy with St. Landry Parish Sheriff Dept. for over 8 years. He was a talented musician and loved playing his accordion. He was very dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time them. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Norma Jean Doucet Lalonde of Opelousas one son, Gordon Lalonde, Jr. and wife, Mandy Bourque Lalonde of New Orleans one daughter, Tammy Lalonde of Opelousas two sonsinlaw, Lenny Johnson of Opelousas and Daniel Lafleur II of Lafayette one sister, Sheila L. Lincoln of New Orleans his grandchildren, Ashlee Lafleur, Darrin Johnson, Lindsay Johnson, Gregory Lalonde, Justin Lalonde, Christopher Lalonde, Megan LeMay, and Tanya Dupre and greatgrandchildren, Taylor Lafleur, Talon Bodden, Haven Lafleur, Izzie Lafleur, Destiny Hall, Bryce Miller, Darrin Johnson, Jr., Joseph Johnson, Maggie Johnson, and Sarah Johnson.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Lalonde and Bertha Guidroz Lalonde two sons, Roger Dale Lalonde and Terry Lalonde and two brothers, Harry Lalonde and Phillip Butch Lalonde.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, May 12, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Home will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
