Gogdue Hebert

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Gogdue "Shorty" Hebert, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, in St. Leo Catholic Church in Leonville. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery, with Father, Ken Domingue as the celebrant.

"Shorty" was a native of Port Barre and a lifelong resident of Opelousas. He died on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Vidor Health and Rehab in Texas, at the age of 87. Shorty loved to go dancing. He was a senior companion for 10 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Stout and her husband, Lynard, Sr. of Orange, TX., ½ sister, Elsie Mae LaGrange of Arnaudville, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emitier Lormand, his father, Simon Hebert, his ½ brothers, Simon Hebert, Jr., and Darrel Hebert.

Visiting hours will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Thursday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday evening.

Pallbearers, will be, Richard Broussard, David Manuel, Michael LaGrange, Lynard Stout, Jr. David Zerangue, and Leon Zerangue.
Honorary Pallbearers are Macon Hebert and Max Hebert.
