GLORIA ANN ANTOINE, age 61, died at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in the Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, Louisiana after an extended illness.
Gloria is survived by two half sisters, Nancy Brunson of Alexandria, LA and Joy Reeves and her husband, Wym of Conway, Arkansas two nephews, Brandon Mahoney and Andrew Reeves a great niece, Bella Mahoney her aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Ruth Guilbeau Brunson her father, Charles Antoine her step father, Bobby Brunson her maternal grandparents, Adonis and Gloria Moss Guilbeau.
Gloria was born in Lafayette on May 28, 1953 and spent her childhood in the LafayetteBroussard area, and resided in Alexandria for many years. She was a graduate of Leesville High School and Spencer Business College. Gloria was very beautiful, talented and she competed and was chosen Miss Alexandria in 1972. Gloria was employed with the Louisiana State Highway Department for many years and later worked as a legal secretary with a law firm, until her long journey to become a model in Los Angeles, California . She returned to Louisiana several years ago, and lived in Palmetto, Louisiana until her death.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Tri Parish Community Health Nursing Home in Palmetto, and their staff for the care given to Gloria during the most critical years of her life. Also, special thanks to the doctors and staff at Opelousas General Health System.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Glorias cremains will be laid to rest with her mother in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bentley, Louisiana.
Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
