Gilda Ortego Marshall

Opelousas Memorial funeral services for Mrs. Gilda Ortego Marshall, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Father Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Gilda was born and raised in Ville Platte and lived in Carencro for 21 years. She was currently residing in Opelousas. She died on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 4:15 a.m. in the Opelousas General Health System.

She was a clerk at J. W. Lowe's Dept. Store for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bingo with her senior friends. She participated in Metro Bingo and Girard Park Bingo in Lafayette and Belle Maison Bingo in Broussard. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Theogene Gene Marshall and wife, Michelle Deville Marshall of Lawtell; one daughter, Marie Marshall of Carencro; two grandchildren: Jenifer Marshall Francis and husband, Ray; and Matthew Marshall; and one great-grandchild, Michael Francis.

Preceded in death by her parents, Theogene Ortego and Marie Aurora Manuel Ortego.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to help defray medical and funeral expenses.
