Gervis Babin

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Gervis BB Babin. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. Father Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass.
Gervis was a resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his family at the age of 67.
Gervis worked at the Opelousas Dental Lab for over 30 years, until he opened his own Lab called BB Dental Lab with his brother, Charles LaLay Babin for about 7 years. Then after that he worked for Bordens milk Company for 6 years until his retirement.

Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Mrs. Gayle Culotta Babin of Opelousas, his children, Allison Breaux and husband, Cory of Sunset, Melanie Rodrigue and husband, Justin of Scott, his brother, John Gilbert Babin of Deer Park, TX., his sister, Dorothy Leger and husband, Warren of Opelousas, five grandchildren, Brennen and Kylar Buckley, Isaac and Emma Breaux, and Alyssa Rodrigue They were the light of his eyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert Red and Blanche Guidroz Babin, his brother, Charles LaLay Babin, his sisters, Betty Maglione and Margaret Ortego.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Michael Cain and his staff at the Cancer Center of Acadiana, Dr. Scott Neusetzer and his staff and the nurses on the Oncology floor at Lafayette General.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, February 8, 2013, from 11 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Babin, Cory Breaux, Justin Rodigue, Jody Leger, Guy Soileau, and David Culotta.
