Gertie Artigue

PORT BARRE-A Mass of Christian Burial for Gertie Meyers Artigue, will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Barre. Reverend Picard will conduct the mass. Rite of committal will follow in the church cemetery.

Ms. Artigue, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. In her early years Mrs. Artigue was a member of the Council on Aging. She enjoyed sewing, dancing and playing pokeno. Mrs. Artigue will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Bobby Stoute and wife, Betty; her daughters, Peggy Aymond and companion, Lonnie Donaghey, Rita Simon and husband, Jason Simon, Connie Perry and husband, Scott Perry, and Nora Bartlett; her brother, Antoine Meyers, Jr.; her sisters, Mary Lou Deville, Emeline Artigue and Jean Noel. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antoine Meyers, Sr. and Elbae Prejean Meyers; her husband, Lawrence Artigue; her brothers, Kermit Meyers and Howard Meyers; and her sister, Bernice Darbonne.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. A rosary will be prayed prior to the service by Reverend Picard.

Pallbearers will be Scott Aymond, Shane Aymond, Jody Perry, Michael O'Connor, Blaze Franks and Cameron Doucet. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Stoute, Scott Perry and Jason Simon.
