Gerar GP James Soileau

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Gerar GP James Soileau, age 79, will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 11:00 a.m, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery, Opelousas. The Reverend Angelo Cremaldi will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Soileau was born in Chataignier and was a long time resident of Prairie Ronde, La. He passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2008, at Maison DeVille Nursing Home, Opelousas.

Mr. GPJames passion in life was the Horse Racing industry and he was involved until illness brought an end to all of his activities. In 1965 he began breeding, raising and racing Thoroughbred Horses. His horses won many races and the business continues today with his son Lynn at the head. Mr. GP's life long occupation was in the road construction business until he became too ill to continue. Mr. Soileau was a long time Parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde.

Survivors include his wife, Pataricia Pat Reed Soileau of Prairie Ronde; his sons, Harold Lynn Soileau and wife Ivy Dale, Michael Dale Soileau and wife Pat, Carl James Soileau and wife Paula all of Prairie Ronde; daughter; Madeline S. Deshotel and husband John of Prairie Ronde; sister, Eve Cortez of Opelousas; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mr. Soileau was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Deah Godeau Soileau.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

The rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
