Geraldine Morris

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Geraldine Morris will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Melville. Bro. Calvin Cantrell will officiate the services.

Mrs. Geraldine was born in New Orleans and was raised in Melville. She was known to many as Gerry. She lived in Melville until she graduated from high school. When she married Mr. James Morris, they moved to Opelousas. She has been residing in Opelousas for many years. She died on May 24, 2014, at the Opelousas General Health System at the age of 87. She was the Past President for 20 years and an active member of the VFW Post 2483 Ladies Auxiliary of Opelousas. She loved playing Bingo and sewing. She was also a member of the Melville Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffery K. Morris and wife, Betty of Leonville and Henry W. Morris of Opelousas one daughter, Donna M. Prejean of Port Barre two brothers, Darrell K. Porche of Melville and Emmitt Porche and wife, Liera of Baton Rouge 10 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kermit Morris one son, Robert Dale Morris parents, Robert Porche and Evie Holloway Porche two brothers, Larry Dale Porche and James Earl Porche and one sister, Wilma Porche.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 5 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
