Gerald Guidroz, Sr.

Port Barre- A Funeral Service will be held for Gerald Murphy Guidroz, Sr. at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Fr. Lambert Lein will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

Murphy, age 87, a resident of J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019.

He is survived by his son, Gerald Murphy Guidroz, Jr. and his wife, Jane of Leonville; brother, George Thompson of Port Barre; sisters, Joyce Guidroz Stelly of Port Barre, Ida Davenport of Baton Rouge and Laura Ann Thompson Fitzgerald of Port Barre; two grandchildren, Corey James Guidroz and Jared Paul Guidroz; three great-grandchildren, Presliey Paige Guidroz, Triston Slayde Guidroz and Trendon Blayde Guidroz; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Alice Guidroz; his parents, Jean Batist and Agnes Guillory Thompson; brother, Jean Batist “Tex” Guidroz, Jr.; and sisters, Leola Thompson Richard and Eola “Blackie” Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family will accept monetary donations.
