Gerald Ducharme, Sr.

Opelousas- A Celebration of Life will be held for, Gerald B. "Jerry" Ducharme, Sr., on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas; with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct the service.

Jerry, age 88, a resident of Lafayette and native of Opelousas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette with his family by his side.

Jerry served his country proudly in the United States Navy and Navy Reserve. He loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and working in his yard. Jerry served as a SLPS Deputy, he was the owner and operator of Pap's Motel, and he also operated H & H Marine Sales. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Vernita "Nita" Ducharme; daughters, Becky Gossett, Judy LeBlanc (Jerry), Jeanne Ducharme and Bonnie Ducharme; sons, Gerald "Bubba" Ducharme (Monette), Chris Ducharme and Quin Ducharme; step-son, Mike Allen (Wendy); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews who affectionately knew him as "Uncle Duck".

He is preceded in death by his parents, August "Pap" Sr. and Judith "Judy" Ducharme; two brothers; and a special Aunt Julie.
