Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. George S. Litton, age 83, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4 , 2006, in the Episcopal Church of The Epiphany, 1103 S. Union St., Opelousas, La and burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery, Opelousas, La.
Father Pete Smith will conduct the services.
Mr. George passed away October 2, 2006, at 11:15 p.m. in Doctors Hospital, Opelousas, La. He was a native and life long resident of Opelousas. Mr. Litton was the former owner of Litton Insurance Agency and at his death the owner of Creative Travel Service of Opelousas. Mr. Litton was very active in civic and community service. He was a past member of the Rotary Club and served as a Board Member of many Organizations, Schools, The Cerebral Palsy Clinic and in his Church in many capacities where he was a lifetime member. Mr. George was chosen as the Man of the Year by both the Opelousas Sertoma Club and the Opelousas-St. Landry Chamber of Commerce. Mr. George also served his country in the Army during WWII in the European Theatre, reaching the rank Master Sergeant. At the travel agency, George enjoyed calling his female employees Georges Angels. Mr. Litton was a graduate of SLI now known as ULL in Business Administration.
Mr. Litton is survived by his wife Betty Guillory Litton, Opelousas; Daughter, Susan A Litton of Opelousas; a Sister-in-Law, Elsie Stelly Litton of Dallas, TX..
He was preceded in death by his Brother, Dupre Litton and Sister, Ethel Mae Romagosa.
Visitation will be held at the Episcopal Church of The Epiphany, October 4, 2006, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service beginning at 2:00 p.m
The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Church Memorial Fund or to the Cerebral Palsy Clinic of Opelousas.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
