George Lewis Moscovis
Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. George Lewis Moscovis, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel and burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.
Rev. Perry Hubbs will conduct the services.
Mr. Moscovis was a native and life-long resident of Opelousas. He died at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at his residence.
He was retired School Bus Driver with over 20 years of service from the St. Landry Parish School Board. He was a past foreman for Standard Fittings as a machinist.
Mr. George was U. S. Army Air Corp. Veteran of World War II. He was awarded the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal; as well as, the French Croix De Guerre French Medal of Honor. He was a member of the V.F. W. and the First Baptist Church of Opelousas.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Lottie Kessinger Moscovis; three daughters: Ida Sue Lemoine and husband, John; Betty Rose Abdalla and husband, George; and Sandra Kay Moscovis; one son, George Anthony Moscovis; and one brother, John Robert Moscovis and wife, Charlene; all of Opelousas; and one sister, Merldine Moscovis David of Plaisance; his grandchildren: Michelle Elizabeth Lemoine Johnson and husband, Jason of Lafayette; and Cynthia Denise Lemoine Jordan and husband, LaJon of Long Beach, CA; and his great-grandchildren: Emily Pearl Mixon and Alec Martin Johnson of Lafayette; and Laila Sue Jordan and Aysa Cane Jordan, both of Long Beach, CA
Mr. George was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Doyle Moscovis; his parents: James Anthony Moscovis and Rosa Lewis Moscovis; and one brother, Edward Lewis Moscovis.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Moscovis, James Moscovis, Micah Moscovis, Caleb Moscovis, Jason Johnson, and Brian Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Douglas Kessinger and Charles Glen Kessinger.
