Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial for George Leger, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.. Rev. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass Service.

Mr. George was a long time resident of Port Barre he passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the age of 75 in the St Landry Extended Care of Opelousas. Mr. George loved dancing and listening to French and country music. He spent his life in the farming business, planting whatever was best to plant that year. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with each of them. He is going to be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Lagrange Leger of Port Barre, sons, Gregory Louis Leger and wife Lana of Port Barre, George Leger, Jr. and wife Lisa of Pecanierre daughters, Darlene Leger Vidrine and husband Kirby of Palmetto, Sandra Leger LeMelle and husband Joe of Opelousas, Wanda Leger Canezaro and husband Davy of Livonia sister Joyce Leger Fontenot of Port Barre 23 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Lenora Doucet Leger and brother John Jessie Leger.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Wednesday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Leger, Ricky Carroll, Evan Vidrine, Jordan Canezaro, Gregory Leger, George Leger, Jr. and Honorary pallbearer will be John Patrick Doucet.
