George Desoto, Sr.

Opelousas- Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. George F. DeSoto, Sr., Rev. Benny Reppond will officiate the service. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

George was a resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016, at Opelousas General Health System, at the age of 76. George enjoyed fishing and talking to his family and friends on the phone. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Gwendolyn DeSoto Thibodeaux of Opelousas, sister, Judy Roberson of Krotz Springs, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Sam, Sr., and Mariah Boudreaux DeSoto, his wife, Gloria Leblanc DeSoto, sons, George Jr., and Jimmy DeSoto brothers, Algey and Sam DeSoto, Jr., sisters, Everta and Gertrude DeSoto.


The visitation will begin on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday at 8:00 am until time of service.
