Opelousas, La Funeral services for Mrs. Genevieve Meche Lastrapes, age 78, will be held time pending on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will officiate the services.

Mrs. Genevieve was a native of the Sunset, La and long-time resident of Opelousas. She died on Sunday, December 2, at 2:00 a.m. at the Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, La. Ms. Genevieve was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a lady of gentleness, kindness and a friend to anyone that she would meet. She worked as a secretary for the City of Opelousas in the sales tax
ision. She served as a Pink Lady at Doctor's Hospital and where ever she was needed. She was very devoted to her Church and Saviour Jesus Christ. She will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her. Well done good and faithful servant of the Lord.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Lastrapes, Jr.; two sons, Dr. Richard Lastrapes and wife Dr. Deborah of Opelousas, Kim Lastrapes and wife Denise of Opelousas; daughter, Nancy Franks and husband Allen of Opelousas; two brothers, Bob Meche and wife Virginia of Gonzales, La, David Meche of Duson, La.; sister, Theresa Brown and husband Gervis of Opelousas; and seven grandchildren, Lainey Lastrapes Boss and husband Bo Michael, Libby Lastrapes, Mallory Lastrapes, Madelyn Lastrapes, Molly Lastrapes, Caroline Franks, Benjamin Franks.

Mrs. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, Cyprien Meche and Elizabeth Faul Meche; brother, John Meche; sisters, Amy Mire and Clemmie Hutchins.

Visiting hours will be observed on Monday, December 3, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday..
