Gene Richard, Sr.

Port Barre - A Mass of Christian Burial for Gene Allen Richard, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Gene was a longtime resident of Port Barre and was currently residing in Elton. He passed away at the age of 73 on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Jeff Davis Living Center in Jennings, LA. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the NRA. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Survivors include two sons, James Ray Richard and companion, Karen Acheé of Krotz Springs; and Gene Allen Richard II and companion, Dana Bellard of Port Barre; one daughter, Carlene Ann Robinson and husband, Wayne of Elton; two sisters, Nancy Artigue and Nellie Devillier, both of Port Barre; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Mildred Knott Richard; his parents, Leo Richard and Rita Hebert Richard; and grandchild, Monique Richard.
Pallbearers will be Cody Richard, Devin Richard, Johnny Richard, Gene Allen Richard III, Jacob Robinson, and Jeffery Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Richard, Josh Richard, and Eric Robinson.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, October 15, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. with an all night wake until 10:30 a.m. on Friday. A rosary service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
