Garland Badeaux

Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Garland Badeaux at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Brian Taylor will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

Mr. Garland, age 82, a resident of Port Barre, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Opelousas General Health System.

Mr. Garland served his country proudly in the United States Army from February 1955 to December 1956. He was a dedicated member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus.  In his early years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and tending to his flower beds. Mr. Garland was a well-known local business owner in Port Barre of the Travelers Motel, Garland-Gurcie’s Western Wear, Target Tire Company and Garland Badeaux INC. Most of all Mr. Garland cherished spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Gurcie Arnaud Badeaux; daughter, Diane Badeaux Maddie (Dannie); sons, Karl Badeaux (Dorothy), Gordon Badeaux (Susan) and Brent Badeaux (Richelle); grandchildren, Danielle, Caitlin and Derian Maddie, Brittany Balius (Don), Hope Lanclos (Troy), Albert Artigue (Erica), Adam Badeaux (Deborah), Elizabeth Goolsby (Will), Victoria Rea (Alex), Bryce Badeaux, Branton Badeaux (fiancé, Megan Hargroder), Bevan Badeaux; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Greyson and Amelia Balius, Tanner and Kylie Lanclos, Gabbie and Kaden Artigue, Hailey and Kynleigh Badeaux, Abbigail, Ella and Grace Goolsby; and his great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Meche.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Badeaux and Beulah Peltier Badeaux; and his brother, Norris Badeaux.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. A rosary service will be prayed by Mrs. Johnny "BooBoo" Soileau at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Adam Badeaux, Albert Artigue, Bryce Badeaux, Branton Badeaux, Bevan Badeaux and Derian Maddie. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Tanner Lanclos and Kaden Artigue.
