Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Fred Wyble will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Fr. James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Graveside service and interment will follow on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Springville Cemetery in Coushatta, LA.
Fred was a native of Port Barre and long time resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Fred was a graduate of AIC in Opelousas, attended and played football at LSU and played football and graduated from Northwestern State University. Fred served our Nation in the Marine Corp. He then worked in the oilfield construction industry and later worked with his brother-in-law, Rudy Prince, who he loved and admired greatly and he traveled the world as a safety consultant. Fred had a love of horses and trained and owned racehorses, including Bold Chapeau, who raced in the Kentucky Derby.
Fred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Prince Wyble; daughter, Kathie Landry and husband Curtis and their daughter, Alayna Landry and his daughter, Kristi Hunter and her husband, Richard and their children, Ella, Joey and Ava Hunter; and sisters, Mary Faith Thomassee and Lorna Sue Miller.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Beulah Carriere Wyble; sister, Amaryllis Wyble; and brother, Wayne Wyble.
Visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Monday, November 16, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Fred will then be taken to St. Landry Catholic Church on Tuesday and start the wake at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass at 10:00 a.m.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Velma Washington and Carolyn Arceneaux, his loving caregivers during his illness, and Dr. Jon Leleu and Dr. Chad Vincent, his physicians who provided excellent care to him.
