It is with a saddened heart that the death of Frank Eugene Dean, Jr. is announced by his loved ones. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ed Downs. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Manorial Park Cemetery.
Frank passed away on October 15, 2017 at his home in New Iberia, La. surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many loved ones at his bedside.
Frank was born in Opelousas, La., on February 5, 1943. He attended the Academy of Immaculate Conception (now Opelousas Catholic) where he graduated in 1961. He attended Northwestern State University from 1961-1963 when he became employed with South Central Bell Telephone Company where he worked until his retirement in 1991. He then owned and operated Gator Guide Services, Inc., guiding hunters and fishermen into the Atchafalaya Basin in the Bayou Beniot area until 1994, when he started Dean's Tree Service, which he operated until 1998.
Since 1998, Frank's full time efforts have been devoted to service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, New Iberia, LA., and assisted whenever called upon to help the spiritual and physical needs of the church's many fellow parishioners. He was proud to be a dedicated member of the congregation and was always eager to help, and to ask for help and prayer from, his fellow congregation. He was quick to tell anyone who asked that, since 1998, his most rewarding "hobby", his most energetic efforts, and his greatest world rewards were his efforts to assist when called upon by his minister or fellow church members.
Frank remained an avid fisherman and hunter in the Atchafalaya basin area. He also enjoyed woodworking and was renowned for his authorship of numerous prayers and other religious writings presented at church.
Frank is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susie Childs Dean; his son, Frank E. Dean III, two daughters, Jamie Simoneaux and husband, Kyle Simoneaux and Catherine Dean; 7 grandchildren, Trey David, Taylor David, Zachary Ackal, Brianne Pridgen, Addie Simoneaux, Camille Dean, and Braelyn Dean, and one great granddaughter, Novalie David; 4 brothers, Donnie Dean of Opelousas, William "Billy" Dean of Baton Rouge, Glynn "Dougie Dean of Opelousas, and James "Jay" Dean of Longview; and 1 sister, Betty Dean Rozas of Sunset and uncle Wallace Pastorick, Jr. of Baton Rouge and an aunt Joyce Pastorick Stephens of Yuma, Arizona.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank "Dutz" Dean Sr., mother, Dorothy Belle Pastorick Dean; grandfather, Wallace Pastorick, Sr., grandmother, Lorena Pastorick; grandfather T.A. Dean, grandmother Emma Dean; nephew, Garrett Dean; a brother, Gregory Dean; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
