Francis Marks

Leonville- Francis Moise Marks left this world to meet his heavenly father on, Monday August 3, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family, at the age 80. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Domingue will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville. Visitation at 10 am at the church till time of Mass.
He was born July 25, 1935, in Arnaudville, Louisiana and was a resident of Port Barre, Louisiana. He was retired from Avondale Shipyard as a Steel Control Superintendent after 47 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville. Francis served 2 years in the seminary studying to be a priest, then he moved on to Cecilia High School where he graduated in 1953.
Francis and his wife were active member of the F C R V camping Association, he served as several officers in the Pelicans, Bayou and Azaleas. They traveled the country and decorated stages for F C R V retiree rallies. Francis and his wife were retiree king and queen in 2008. He was a volunteer worker TRIAD of St. Landry Parish Sheriff Department and served as King in 2014 Mardi Gras.

Francis is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Marita Corrao Marks of Port Barre; two sons, Jules Marks and wife, Tammy of Marrero; and Jude Marks and wife, Crystal of Gray; two stepsons, Larry Denmark of Terrytown; and Kenny Denmark of Port Barre; three daughters, Mary Fertitta and husband, Paul of Dallas, GA; Dinah DeSoto of Marrero; and Jane Ketteringham and husband, Bobby of Kodak, TN; one stepdaughter, Denise Blackwell and husband, John of Kentwood; one brother, Eugene Louis Marks and his wife, Barbara of Erwinville; sister-n- laws, Virginia Robin Marks of Port Barre, and Luicille Arnaud Marks of Cecilia, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Ione Guillotte Marks of Marrero.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Moise Marks and Cecile Noel Marks Devillier; brothers, Jude, Herman Paul, and John Edward Marks; one sister, Cecile Marks Robin and brother-in-law, Alvin Robin, and sister-in-law, Sylvia Aucoin Marks.
The family expresses special thanks to caregiver, friend, and step son, Kenny Denmark, Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, and Howard Champagne.
