Francis Fontenot

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church for Mr. Francis Fontenot. Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. There will be a Military service at grave side.

Francis was resident of Opelousas. He died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at his home, at the age of 87. Francis was a member of Knight of Columbus and loved to watch LSU and Saints Football.

Francis is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Bernice Clay Fontenot of Opelousas, his children, Francis Michael "Mickey" Fontenot of Lafayette, Faye Ann Fontenot of New Orleans, and Barbara Dabney and her husband, Frank of Opelousas, his sister, Theresa Fontenot Arceneaux, five grandchildren, Jessica Dabney Lanclos, Seth Dabney, Brandon Fontenot, Jared Fontenot, Tara Fontenot Lear and six great grandchildren.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Clothilde Thibodeaux Fontenot, brothers, Vincent, Levy, Nolton, Ferdie, Daniel Jr., and Ivan Fontenot, sisters, Rita Fontenot, and Ella Fontenot Arceneaux.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A Rosary service will be at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home by Jerome Collins.
