Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Fay Smithey, known to many as Fay, age 67, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Father James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Britney Robinson and Bobby Robinson will be the Readers for the Mass. The gift bearers will be Kade Saucier and Samantha Robinson. The Eulogy will be presented by her godchild, Kim Gautreaux.
Fay was a native of Opelousas and was a resident of Scott. She died on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was retired from Nursing after practicing for over 25 years at Doctors Hospital and the Haydel Clinic.
She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Ava Maria Rosary Group. She also was very devoted to praying her Rosary daily. She enjoyed spending time visiting with her familyespecially her grandchildren, and friends. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She also enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting.
Survivors include a two sons, John Michael Smithey of Monroe and Perry Wayne Smithey and wife, Paula of Aurora, Colorado one daughter, Stacey Robinson and husband, Buck of Scott three brothers: James Clyde Sonny Perry, Jr. and wife, Gerry of Opelousas Martin Dale Perry and wife, Lucy of Grand Prairie and Robert Keith Perry and wife, Judy of Scott one sister, Barbara Snooks Perry Hargroder of Opelousas eleven grandchildren: Adrian, Ross, Shelby, Allie Fay, Sydney, Gannon, Kade, B.J., Britney, Samantha, and Bobby and five greatgrandchildren: Owen, Kaylor, Ashlyn, Mylie, and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Clyde Perry, Sr. and Mary Olivia Richard Perry and one brotherinlaw, Malcolm Hargroder.
Pallbearers will be John Michael Smithey, Perry Wayne Smithey, Buck Robinson, Ross Smithey, Heath Perry, and Hunter Perry.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, from 2 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
