Frances Lavergne

Opelousas – A Funeral Service will be held for Frances “Granny” Lavergne on Friday, February 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Deacon Sammi Diesi will conduct the service. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Lewisburg.

Mrs. Frances entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 72, at Opelousas General Health System surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Frances served her community as a nurse at Opelousas General for 35 years until her retirement. She enjoyed reading and cherished time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Lavergne and wife, Terrie of Lewisburg; daughter, Donna Maynes and husband, Ruben Maynes, Jr. of Arizona; 3 grandchildren, Logan Vidrine, Ruben Maynes III and Katie Maynes; and 2 great-grandchildren, Karson and Annistyn Vidrine.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Lavergne; brother, Charles “Buddy” Norman; sister, Karlena Chachere; and parents, Karl and Olena Norman.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. The rosary will be recited by Deacon Sammi Diesi at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Chachere, William Chachere, Ruben Maynes III, Logan Vidrine, Timmy Thomassee and Alejandro Castillo.
