Foster Parlange Nash, Jr.

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Foster Parlange Nash Jr., 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Landry Catholic Church. Msgr. Paul Metrejean will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.

Mr. Nash was born on October 10, 1924 in Dubuisson, LA, and was a resident of Opelousas for most of his life. He passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 4:10 p.m. in his residence in Opelousas.

Mr. Nash graduated from Opelousas High School. He received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Southwest Louisiana Institute. Upon graduation from college, he served his country In the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his years of service, he returned to Opelousas where he owned and managed the Western Auto on Main Street. Later, he worked with Federal Pacific Electric Company and Westinghouse Electric as an electrical engineer. Thereafter, he served as an electrical consultant for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. Then he owned and managed his own company, FPN Sales.

During his years of retirement, Mr. Nash enjoyed gardening and raising a variety of domestic and exotic birds.

Survivors include his children: Marie Nash Stander of Opelousas, Claire Nash Fruge and her husband Danny of Sunset, Mary Nash Dubuisson of Opelousas, and Foster Parlange Nash III and his wife Megan of New Orleans; his grandchildren Emily Fruge Simon and her husband Denis, Amy Fruge, Elizabeth Fruge, Daniel Fruge, Meghan Stander, James Dubuisson IV, Catherine Dubuisson, Parker Nash, and Mary Morgan Nash.

Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his parents, Foster Parlange Nash Sr. and Anita Burleigh Nash.

Visiting hours will be observed on Friday, April 4, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 2:00 pm in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA.
