Opelousas– A Funeral Service for Forest Babineaux will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Deacon Jerome Collins will conduct the service. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Forest, age 83, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Camelot Nursing Home in Broussard.
In his early years he was the coach for the Lawtell Little League. Forest was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Cajun French Music Association. He had great love for French cajun music, dancing and French-cajun culture. Forest and his wife were both member of the CFMA and taught dance lessons for the association for many years.
Forest is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita Smith Babineaux; son, Patrick Babineaux (finace, Melinda Casanova); daughters, Susan Fontenot (husband, Raphael Fontenot), Shelli Deviller (husband, Troy Devillier); brother, Nolan Babineaux and Charles Babineaux; sister, Lea Ann LeJeune; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Robin, Cole Babineaux, Joel Babineaux, Lindsay Lege, Morgan Caubarreaux, Emily Babineaux, Evan Babineaux, Allison Devillier, Justin Devillier, Amanda Poole and Jessica Dickerson; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Forest is preceded in death by his son, David Babineaux; parents, Firman Nolton Babineaux and Ezor Cormier Babineaux; and brother, Claude Babineaux.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Babineaux, Raphael Fontenot, Troy Devillier, Justin Devillier, Brian Babineaux and Joel Babineaux. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Nolan Babineaux, Charles Babineaux and his dear friend, Hershal Leger.
