Opelousas -Funeral services for Floyd Burleigh, age 89, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Floyd died on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side. Floyd was a native of Sunset and a resident of Prairie Ronde, Community. He was very active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Sunset. Floyd was a foreman all his life working as farmer for different people. He loved gardening and was known for growing the prettiest, biggest and the best tasting tomatoes. He enjoyed fishing, riding his dog on the golf cart and loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his daughters, Verna Johnson her husband, Mike (Jike) of Lawtell, Patricia (Pat) Soileau of Prairie Ronde, Floydine, (Flo) Thibodeaux and her husband, Wade of Lawtell, Josie Burleigh of Prairie Ronde, brothers, Jim Burleigh of Lake Charles, Robert Burleigh and his wife, Norma, sister-in-law, Myrtis Burleigh, seven grandchildren, Melissa Rodrigues, John Floyd Soileau, Keith Soileau, Guy Thibodeaux, Randy Burleigh, B J Johnson and April Lynn Boudreaux, twelve great grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Lauren, Alexis, Taylor, Kylie, Gavin, Madelyn (Maddie), Amelia, Braylon, Carson, and Kaylen, one great -great grand-daughter, Paisley Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Elia Faul Burleigh, his wife of 61 years, Madeline Stanford Burleigh, brother, Alvin Burleigh, sisters, Verna Mae Burleigh, and Lou Alice Burleigh, and one son-in-law, Dale Soileau.
Pallbearers will be, Johnny Soileau, Keith Soileau, Guy Thibodeaux, Randy Burleigh, B J Johnson, Josh Rodriguez, B J Boudreaux.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 8:00 am till time of service.
