OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church of Opelousas at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 8, 2012. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas with Fr. Paul Bienvenue officiating.
It is with great sadness that the family of Florence Flo Thibodeaux, age 89, announces her passing on Friday, October 5, 2012, at her home. She was a native of Erath, LA, and a longtime resident of Opelousas, LA. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She leaves behind her loving children, A. C. Thibodeaux, Jr., and his wife, Vickie of Opelousas, Chad Thibodeaux and his friend Nancy Faul of Arnaudville, Dr. Collins Thibodeaux and his wife, Shawn of Lafayette, Cindy Orillion and her husband, Jim of Rayne, Celeste Patroni, FavD of Lafayette, and Charisse Comeaux of Opelousas, her brothers, Roland Stoutes of Lake Charles, Ruvian Stoutes and his wife, Mary Ann of Abbeville, And Tyrone Stoutes and his wife, Pat of Carencro. Her memory will most certainly be cherished by her twenty grandchildren and twenty seven greatgrandchildren.
Flo now joins in Heaven with her parents, Aubrey and Destine Landry Stoutes, her husband, Ambrose Carroll Thibodeaux, Sr., and her sister, Della Fagan.

Flo was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She had a passion and love of music and dancing, especially with her husband, Carroll, and was always at his side until his death in 1990. He was, the love of her life. Memories are still cherished of the two dancing in the middle of the kitchen or living room.
She was an ideal hostess for many, many family events and Knights of Columbus functions. Together they journed in Eucharistic processions in towns from Erath, Cow Island to the Holy Site of the Cursillio in Prairie Rhonde. They also traveled with the Knights visiting the Holy places from Guadalupe, Mexico to the majestic cathedrals in Spain and Portugal to name a few ending at Vatican City in Rome. She was graced to have an audience with Pope Paul.
Flo knew no prejudice toward people of other religion, race, or the poor, especially the less fortunate.
She loved making and painting ceramics and left behind many treasures. She was the perfect seamstress noting an outfit should be finished to be worn inside out. She made all her childrens clothes from infancy to her daughters most perfect wedding gown. She had a flair for fashion and an outfit was not complete without the perfect high heels, purse and jewelry to match. Flo was always dressed fit to kill.
After her husband her pride and joy were her children. She was very devoted to them all. Her greatest gift to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was her devotion to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. The Rosary was a devotion practiced as a family at home and on every trip. Her words to them still echo the family that prays together stays together.
Until the day of her death one could see her lifting her arm to sign with the Sign of the Cross and grasping her rosary. As long as she had strength she signed each on their forehead with the crossasking Gods Blessing.
Everyone will lovingly miss her. From her loving children, Sonny, Cindy, Celeste, Charisse Chad and Collins, Mother, well be loving you, Always.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for your loving and compassionate care to Barbara Rosette, Jean Citizen, Lillie Green and Hospice of Acadiana.
