Ferdinand Courville

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Ferdinand Ferdie Courville, age 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Father Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Courville was a native of Garland and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. He died on Sunday, October 16, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a U. S. Veteran who proudly served his country as a Merchant Marine during WWII and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Nobel Drilling after working for over 33 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mrs. Lucy Doucet Courville of Opelousas four sons, Fred Courville and wife, Becky of Oklahoma City, OK Kenneth Courville and wife, Susan of Opelousas Timmy Courville of Opelousas and Ronny Courville and wife, Stacey of Opelousas 6 grandchildren: Dylan and Devon Courville, Scott and Chris Courville, and Skye and Joey Courville two stepgrandchildren: Danielle and Danny Penland 3 greatgrandchildren: Haley Courville, Kaylin and Rayo Courville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aluce Courville and Honora Semar Courville one brother, J. C. Courville and three sisters: Marcel Courville, Jeanette Young, and Hazel Bullara.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Courville, Ronny Courville, Kenneth Courville, Chris Courville, Skye Courville, Fred Courville, Dylan Courville, Scott Courville, and Danny Penland.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, October 17, 2011, from 2 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
