Ezola Richard Soileau

Opelousas Funeral services for Ezola Richard Soileau, 84, will be held at 11:00AM February 10, 2007, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.

Musical selections will be performed by Billy Joe Muller and will include Amazing Grace, Take My Hands Precious Lord, Wind Beneath My Wings, and The Old Rugged Cross.

Mrs. Soileau, a native of Church Point and resident of Washington, died February 8, 2007 at her residence.

Ezola R. Soileau worked at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church rectory for 20 years before retiring. She was a charter member of the St. Mary Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the first Rosary Group organized in 1970. Ms. Soileau was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served many years as President and then Secretary Treasurer since 1977.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Kermit Richard Soileau and wife Dolly of Lafayette, David Earl Soileau and wife Gale of New Iberia, and Michael John Soileau and companion Sandra Ryder of Washington; 2 sisters, Eva Lalonde of Opelousas and Marcy Thibodeaux of Opelousas; 7 grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica, Caitlin, and Anthony Soileau, Stacey Broussard and husband Ed, Chrystel Delahoussaye, and Jason Smith; 7 great grand children, Callie, Zachary, Margan, Blake, Chelsie, Brittanie, and Hagen.

Mrs. Soileau was preceded in death by her parents, Mentor and Dorphina Leger Richard; husband, A.K. Soileau; a son, Patrick Soileau; a brother, Isidore Richard; and 2 sisters, Modest Richard and Delmadez Richard LaCombe.
