PORT BARRE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Everette “Beb” Paul Vidrine, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mr. Vidrine, age 93, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Vidrine enjoyed being outdoors camping, fishing and gardening. He loved cooking for his family and spending quality time with family and friends. Mr. Vidrine enjoyed watching the Port Barre Red Devils, the Saints and LSU football games. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Geneva Stanford (Wayne) of Port Barre, Suzanne Doucet (Anthony) of Port Barre and Tammy Cushman (Charles) of Opelousas; sister, Bernadean Fontenot of Ville Platte; 5 grandchildren, Kim Doucet (Jesse), Holly LeDoux (Steven), Sonnye Doucet, Ciara McGlothlin, and Johnny Doucet (Brittany); 10 great-grandchildren, Galen Doucet (Cassidy), Kendalyn Doucet (Dustin Sanders), Sydni LeDoux, Lexie Myers, Raven Doucet, Logan LeDoux, Clover McGlothlin, Owen Doucet, Benson Doucet, Adalyn Doucet; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Lucas Doucet and Finlee Doucet.
He was preceded in death by his wife Neva Leger Vidrine; son, Johnny Ray Vidrine; parents, Elfort Vidrine and Elizabeth Vidrine; brothers, Francis, Berkley, Jessie and Ellis Vidrine; sisters, Anabelle Deville, Mary Ann Vidrine and Theresa Soileau.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. Visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Doucet, Galen Doucet, Jesse Doucet, Logan Ledoux, Dustin Sanders and Brent Leger. Honorary pallbearers will be Farriel Knott and Lucas Doucet.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice, especially his caregivers, Candace, Kristen and Jeannie, and his granddaughters, Kim Doucet and Holly LeDoux.
