Eula Nookie Guidroz Bellard

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Guidroz Bellard, known to many as Nookie age 59, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in the First Baptist Church of Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

Rev. Theron Watson will officiate the service.

Mrs. Bellard was a resident of Port Barre. She died on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Opelousas General Health System.

She loved to do cookbook recipes and making home decoration crafts. She also enjoyed browsing at the flea markets. She was a very loving, wonderful, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her siblings and her extended family. She never met a stranger and had many stories to tell to anyone who would listen. She will be sadly missed by everyone.

Mrs. Bellard worked in law enforcement for many years. She was currently the dispatcher with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff Department Leonville Substation. She was previously the Elderly Assistant Officer and a dispatcher with the Port Barre Police Department.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Shelton Paul Bellard of Port Barre; two sons: Rocky Bellard and Marty Bellard, both of Port Barre; two daughters: Denise Cortez and husband, Paul of Port Barre; and Rachelle Bellard of Port Barre; six brothers: Lawrence Guidroz and wife, Jeanelle of Arnaudville; C. J. Guidroz and wife, Linda of Arnaudville; Donald Guidroz of Arnaudville; Ronald Guidroz of Arnaudville; Louis Guidroz and wife, Christine of Santa Fe, TX; and Dickie Guidroz and wife, Leslie of Porter, TX; three sisters: Laura Deville and husband, Gene Allen of Port Barre; Susie Blanchard of Arnaudville; and Florina Smith and husband, Larry of Arnaudville; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Bellard; one brother, Earl Guidroz; one sister, Barbara LeJeune; parents: Clebert Guidroz and Velma Taylor Guidroz.
