Eugene Theriot

OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Eugene J. Theriot. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend Father Austin Leger will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass.

Mr. Theriot was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 62.
He was a carpenter for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and the Elks Lodge of Opelousas. His passion in life was being outdoors, fishing, camping, spending time with the family and friends, listening to Cajun and French music, and dancing to the songs. He was a devoted father and a loving and caring grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Leanna Ortego of Opelousas two sons, Scott Anthony Theriot and wife, Callie of Sulphur and Christopher Shane Theriot and wife, Crista of Opelousas one daughter, Sheila T. Ortego and husband, Brian of St. Amant special friend, Debra Aucoin of Opelousas two brothers, Ronald James Theriot of Carencro and Joseph Fred Theriot and wife, Elaine of Opelousas and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Wilfred Theriot and brother, Joseph Richard Theriot.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
