Eugene Leger

A Funeral Service will be held for, Mr. Eugene Leroy Leger, at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre, with visitation beginning at 8:00 a.m. Chaplin Brian Johnson will conduct the service. Entombment will take place in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Mr. Leger, age 91, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Leger served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. In his early years he loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Later on in life, Mr. Leger treasured time spent with family; especially moments shared with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Michael L. Leger and wife Donna; daughters, Kathy Sylvester and husband, Robert, Debbie Eppinette and husband, Tommy, and Genny Causey; sister, Dorothy Marks; grandchildren, Angel King, Tom Eppinette, Blair Sylvester, Brice Sylvester, Alisha Allen, Dane Mengarelli, and Bria Majors; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He is preceeded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lee Nezat Leger; his parents, Eugene and Genevieve Leger; his sister, Lorena Guillory; son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Causey and grandson, Sgt. Jared S. Fontenot.

Pallbearers will be Blair Sylvester, Brice Sylvester, Dane Mengarelli, Anthony Majors and Aaron King.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mr. Leger's most cherished charity in his name, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105).
