Ethel Marie Patin, born on August 8, 1948, bid farewell to the world on March 26, 2024, at Opelousas General. She was a compassionate soul known for her selfless nature and dedication to caring for others. Ethel's legacy as a caregiver extended beyond just her family; she touched the lives of many in her community through babysitting local children and providing care to those in need. Ethel's kindness and nurturing spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she has helped over the years.
She will be dearly missed by her surviving family members including her loving children, Philip Patin (Susie), Jeremy Patin (Kelly), Myra Meche, and Stefanie Stout (Chad); brother, Alvin Mallet (Emmaline); sisters, Linda Artigue (Mike) and Theresa Beniot; grandchildren, Cameron Meche, Hailey Patin, Ashlyn Patin, Anistyn Patin,and Camille Stout; step grandchildren, Heather Short (Brent),and Dusty Fontenot (Monica); step great-grandchildren, Shaylee Vincent, Austyn Short, Olivia Short, and Lil Dusty Fontenot; sister in-laws, Marie Bourgeois, Jan Patin and Sue Patin; and her dog Luke.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carol Patin; parents, Dudjay & Aspazie Mallet; sister, Betty Taylor; granddaughter, Ludy Patin, and step grandson, Travis Fontenot.
Pallbearers will include Philip Patin, Jeremy Patin, Chad Stout, D.J. Mallet, Mark Patin, and Joey Artigue. Honorary pallbearers will include Alvin Mallet, Mike Artigue, and Corey Benoit.
Services to honor and celebrate Ethel's life will take place on April 1, 2024, starting with a visitation at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Leo Catholic Church in Leonville at 2:00 PM with Msgr. Curtis Mallet & Fr. Darren Eldridge Celebrants. The Rite of Commital will be at St. Leo Mausoleum.
Ethel Marie Patin's memory will forever remain etched in the minds of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy of compassion and care will be cherished for years to come.
