Ethel Fontenot

Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Guidroz Fontenot, age 80, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Ethel was born in Opelousas, a native of the Port Barre area, and a longtime resident of Pecaniere. She died on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at her sons house in Pecaniere.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time visiting with her family and friends. She faithfully prayed the Rosary. She was a wonderful and loving wife of 59 years, and a very devoted mother, sister, aunt, friend, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.
Survivors include her husband, James Fontenot of Pecaniere two sons, James Edward Jimmy Fontenot and wife, Paula of Pecaniere and John August Johnny Fontenot and wife, Carolyn of Opelousas one daughter, Dolly Vidrine of Port Barre brother, Yves Guidroz of Metairie four sisters, Velma Drake of Starks, LA Verna Mobile of Port Barre Sybil Tullier of Port Barre and Jane Meche of Lafayette 5 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clement Guidroz and Emma Lanclos Guidroz infant son, Terry Octave Fontenot soninlaw, Ray Vidrine four brothers, Albert Guidroz, Frank Guidroz, Ervin Guidroz, and Herbert Guidroz and one sister, Clemmie Bergeron.
Pallbearers will be Corey Stears, Brian Fontenot, Jamie Artigue, John Cooley, Richard Mobile, and Joe Norris.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
