Esther Pitre

OPELOUSAS- A Private Graveside Service will be held for Esther Pitre at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will conduct the service.

Mrs. Pitre, age 93, was a resident of Plaisance, for the last 8 years she was a resident of Cest La Vie in Opelousas, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Pitre was a member of Immaculate Conception Altar Society, and the Church Choir, also a member of the Washington Garden Club. She loved her family gatherings, cooking, sewing, traveling, walking, speaking French, talking about her life growing up in rural Louisiana. She worked as a cashier at A&P in Opelousas and Ville Platte, and also at the Washington Town Museum.

She is survived by children, Norma Guillory (Wayne) of Washington, LA., Carl Pitre (Debbie) of Opelousas, Tommy Pitre of Plaisance, and Kimon Pitre of Lawtell, grandchildren, Wayne Guillory, Jr. (Angel), Amanda Guillory Gooch and Jude Pere’ Gooch, Shelly Guillory Chelette (Steve-Moonie), Chad Pitre, Charlene Pitre, Mary Pitre, Matthew Pitre, Vincent Pitre, Casey Lin Galette, and great grandchildren, Jospeh Guillory, Matthew Breaux, Jarred Breaux (Amber), Dakotah Morain, Joshua Morain, Skylyn Morain, Adam Chelette, Sydney Chelette, Hunter Pitre, Marek Pitre, Emillie Pitre, and Elijah Gooch, great- great grandchildren, Evie Claire Morain, Jayden Matthews, Lucas Breaux, Silas Breaux, and Tucker Reynaud, her siblings, Gertie DeJean, of New Castle, Maine,  Lelda White, of Marrero, LA.,  Mary Jane Briscoe, of Opelousas, Dudley Manuel, of Eunice.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Emar J. Pitre, parents. Elysee and Marie Johnson Manuel, siblings, Murphy Manuel, Hatley Manuel, Tessie M. Andrepont, Lorena M. Guillory, and Berlina LeDoux
