ESSIE COURVILLE FONTENOT
Opelousas Funeral services for Essie Courville Fontenot, 83, will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, August 1, 2007, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Monsignor Robert Romero will conduct the services.
Readings by Laura Stoltenburg and Michelle St. Amand and offerings will be brought by Terri Miller, Diane Dupre, and Nicole Dupre.
Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau and Phyllis Simar. Songs will include The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Are, and On Eagles Wings.
Essie C. Fontenot, a native of Eunice and resident of Opelousas, died at 12:02AM on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice.
Mrs. Fontenot was a member of the Good Sam Club and the VFW Auxiliary, where she served as a past post president and past department president.
Survivors include: husband of 67 years, Evanus Fontenot of Opelousas; one son, Alden Fontenot and wife Karen of Missouri City, Texas; one daughter, Barbara St. Amand and husband Lionel of Opelousas; seven grandchildren, Terri Miller, Rusty St. Amand and wife Michelle, Diane Dupre and husband Donnie, Nicole Dupre and husband Buddy, all of the Opelousas area, Mike St. Amand and wife Kathy of Roaming Shores, Ohio, Laura Stoltenburg and husband Brian of Sugarland, Texas and Kevin Fontenot and wife Krista of San Diego, California; 18 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Wilson Courville of Lake Charles, Percy Courville and wife Virginia of Alexandria, and Shelton Courville of Eunice.
Mrs. Fontenot was preceded in death by her parents, Adeleus Courville and Lena Guidry Courville, four brothers, five sisters, one grandson, Alden John Fontenot, Jr. and 3 great grandsons, James Wesley St. Amand, Corey James Miller, and Lane Michael St. Amand.
Pallbearers will be Rusty St. Amand, Mike St. Amand, Kevin Fontenot, Brian Stoltenburb, Donnie Dupre, and Buddy Dupre. The honorary pallbearer will be Nicholas Miller.
Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 3-9PM and will re-open on Wednesday at 8AM until service time. A rosary will be recited at 6:30PM on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3717 Government St., Suite 7, Alexandria, LA 71302.
