Errol Cowboy Joseph Landry
Port Barre Funeral services for Mr. Errol Cowboy Joseph Landry,60, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Nicky Trahan conducted the Mass.
Cowboy was born in Westwego, a past resident of Port Barre, and a current of Sunset. He died at 5:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2007, in the Doctor's Hospital of Opelousas. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman as a young man. Spending time with horses was his passion and he enjoyed working and training race horses. He was retired from the oilfield after working several years as a driller. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include one son, Errol Troy Landry of Port Barre; two daughters: Celeste Landry of Opelousas and Crystal Landry Edmundson of Port Barre; one sister, Melinda Scruggins Pellerin and husband, Gary of Port Barre; seven grandchildren: Corey Doucet, Jared Doucet, Derek Landry, Tristen Landry, Tori Landry, Nevin Edmundson, and Jaden Edmundson; three great grandchildren: Abby Doucet, Lane Doucet, and Lonna Doucet; and two nephews: Jordy Pellerin and Jeremy Pellerin.
Cowboy was preceded in death by his parents: Walter Landry and Mirth Landry Scruggins.
Visiting hours were observed on Monday, July 30 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. for the family and 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. for the public in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. On Tuesday, visitation continued from 8 a.m. until the time of services. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
