Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Eric J. Guillory. Rite of Committal and interment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA. Rev. Father Paul Bienvenu celebrated the Mass.
Eric was born in Port Barre, LA. He was a previous resident of Houma and was currently residing in Washington for the past 24 years. He passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his home at the age of 75. He was the owner of Eric Flooring in Houma LA, for many years. As a pastime, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a wonderful, loving, and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Norma Quebedeaux Guillory of Washington daughter, Sandra Heupel and her husband, Ronald Steve Heupel, Sr. of Florence, AL three sisters, Helen Quebedeaux of Gray Marie LeJeune of Carencro and Rita Hutison of Arnaudville two special grandsons which he raised, Ronald Stevie Hupel, Jr. of Washington and Corey Shane Guillory of Kentucky 7 grandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Preceded in death by his daughters, Neddie Guillory Stelly and Donna Guillory Heupel and his parents, Gilbert Guillory and Bridget Morain Guillory and his brothers, Edward Guillory and Gilbert Guillory, Jr.
Visiting hours were observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 3 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Monday, visitation continued from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice Compassus and the staff, especially Crystal, Gwen, and Susan who gave him the most love and care. Also, thanks to Dr. Gary Blanchard and his staff, CIS and there staff, and Dr. Wyatte.
