PORT BARRE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Emily Marks Moran at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Francis Regis Catholic Cemetery in Arnaudville.

Mrs. Emily Marks Moran, age 98, a resident of Washington passed from her earthly life on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Senior Village Nursing Home.

Mrs. Emily was born to Noah and Lucille Marks in Arnaudville and later became a long-time resident of Washington. She enjoyed crawfishing, camping, gardening, working with “Papa” in the field, housework, and fishing in her earlier years. She was a member of the home demonstration club and the Ladies Altar Society.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Rodney Moran and wife, Marie of Bridge City, TX, Charles Moran and wife, Laura of Washington and Blaine Moran and wife, Monica of Opelousas; sisters, Lorena Bringar of Port Barre, Joyce Lacasse of Lake Charles and Mildred Hardy of Port Barre; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Placide Moran; daughter, Versie Moran Hebert; brothers, Dewey Marks, John Marks, Aristide Marks and Oscar Marks; sisters, Odille Marks Schexnieder, Blanche Quebedeaux and Louise Marks; and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The rosary will be recited by Mrs. Johnny "Boo Boo" Soileau at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.
