Prairie Ronde A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde, LA, for Mrs. Emily Theresa Allemond Bergeron. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Reverend Father James Brady will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass.

Mrs. Emily Theresa Allemond Bergeron passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System after a long battle at the age of 38. She was born in Opelousas and was a longtime resident of Prairie Ronde. She was a devoted wife and a loving, caring, and giving person, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her husband and children. She also spent time talking on the telephone, working on the computer, Facebook, and listening to music.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, J. Gerald Bergeron, Sr. of Prairie Ronde son, Joseph Jo Jo Bergeron, Jr. of Prairie Ronde daughter, Candice Bergeron and fianc, Paul Richard of Prairie Ronde motherinlaw, Mary Bergeron of Prairie Ronde four brothers, Rene Allemond, Jr. and wife, Elaine of Arnaudville Ronald Allemond and wife, Carol of Carencro Curtis Vicknair, Jr. and fianc, Mary of Prairie Ronde and Chris Vicknair of Opelousas five sisters, Adrianna Katherine LeBlanc of Opelousas who helped raise and was a mom to her Rose Marie Vicknair and husband, David Vicknair, Sr. of Henderson Josephine Allemond and fianc, Arnie Hooks of Arnaudville Renella Boyer and husband, Jimmie of Carencro Melanie Hook and husband, Shannon Hook, Sr. of Opelousas brothersinlaw, John Darryl Bergeron and wife, Gwen of Port Barre Larry Dale Bergeron and wife, Anna of Zwolle and Michael Gary Bergeron and wife, Gwenda of Tallahassee, FL and sisterinlaw, Sheilda Bergeron and friend, Lee Cormier of Prairie Ronde. She also has three godchildren, Montana Hook, Elizabeth Allemond, and Annie Bergeron and her godparents, Adrianna LeBlanc and Rene Allemond, Jr.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Rene Allemond, Sr. and Wilma Marie Cormier Allemond fatherinlaw, Larry Bergeron brotherinlaw, Joseph Joe LeBlanc, Sr. and special friend, Wallace Miller.

Pallbearers will be Rene Allemond, Jr., Ronald Allemond, Joseph Henry, Dale Bergeron, Shannon Hook, and Jimmie Boyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph JoJo Bergeron, Jr., Paul Richard, and Michael Gary Bergeron.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Father James Brady, her special caregiversJosephine Allemond, Rose Vicknair, Albert Russell Henry, Jr. and Jennifer Henry, Melanie Hook, Dianna Vicknair, Elizabeth Allemond, Curtis Vicknair, Jr., Allen Artigue and Mary Artigue, and Teresa Terri Bright the doctors, especially Dr. Tinubu, the nurses, and staff of OGH ICU who helped take care of Emily and the Acadian Ambulance EMTs.

Visitation will begin on Friday, June 8, 2012, at 12:00 pm noon with an all night wake until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Rosary service will be held at 6 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home.
