Elwood Joseph Credeur, Sr.
Scott, LA Funeral services for Mr. Elwood Joseph Credeur, Sr., age 84, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, LA. Interment will follow in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Father Gilbert Dutel will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Credeur was a native of Scott, LA and was a long time resident of Port Neches, TX. He passed away at 8:28 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Renaissance Hospital in Groves, TX.
Mr. Credeur was a U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during World War II. He was a retired pipe fitter from Texaco Oil refineries. He enjoyed the outdoors working in his garden. He was a member of the VFW of Lafayette and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, TX. He really enjoyed spending time with family and friends cooking and reminiscing about the good times. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include two sons: Elwood Jay Credeur, Jr. of Port Neches, TX; and Michael Credeur and wife, Anna of Delavan, NY; two daughters: Elizabeth White and husband, Jeff of Orange, TX; and Suzanne Theriot and husband, Glenn of Port Acres, TX; one sister, Mary Trahan of Scott; one sister-in-law, Dee Credeur of Scott, LA; and six grandchildren: Rena, Eric, and Emily Credeur; Toby and Chelsy White; and Justin Theriot.
Preceded in death by his wife, Elise Stoute Credeur; his parents: Onezine and Celanie Broussard Credeur; and two brothers, Irving Credeur and Oran Credeur.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Wednesday, there will be no visitation. The family will meet at church for 10:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Sibille funeral home.
