Elvin Stelly

Leonville Graveside Funeral services for Mr. Elvin J. Stelly, known as Pop, age 81, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011, in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Cemetery. Interment will follow in the services.
Deacon Dwayne Boudreaux will officiate the services.
He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. He died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System. He worked in the oilfield for many years. He enjoyed spending time visiting with his family and friends, talking on the phone, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara A. Stelly Fontenot and husband, Urell of Morgan City Brenda F. Stelly of Henderson Deborah Stelly Ray and husband, Jonas of Port Barre and Susan M. Stelly Marcantel and husband, Kyle of Mamou two sons, Michael J. Stelly of Houma and Tommy W. Stelly of Church Point two brothers, Antoine Lee Stelly and Henry Harold Stelly, both of Port Arthur, TX 13 grandchildren, 4 greatgrandchildren, a special nephew, Eugene Stelly and wife, Peggy of Carencro and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexis Stelly and Inez Degueyter Stelly son, Elvin Joseph Stelly, Jr. brothers, Melvin Stelly and Levan Stelly three sisters, Verlia Mae Rice Clelita Chatelain and Bernice Ivy.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers and special friends, Albert and Susie Quebedeaux.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Lymphoma Research Foundation.
