Elton D. Bruner, Jr.
Port Barre- Funeral services for Mr. Elton D. Bruner, Jr. have been changed due to a family illness. The funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2009, in the Port Barre United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Fine officiating the services. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Mr. Elton was a long-time resident of Port Barre. He died at the age of 76 on Monday, August 3, 2009, at Opelousas General Health System.
He was a veteran who proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the oilfield as a mud engineer for most of his career. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. He loved spending time with his family. He was extremely friendly to everyone, loved to tell jokes, and was full of spirit and life. He was a very wonderful husband, and a great father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend he will be sadly missed by all.
Cherishing his memories are his wife, Dorothy B. Bruner of Port Barre; his children: Cyndi Bruner Wilkerson of Rayne; Elton D. Eddie Bruner, III of Breaux Bridge; Tina Bruner Matsoukas and husband, Bobby of Gulf Breeze, FL; Michelle Nezat and husband, Donny of Port Barre; one sister, Kathleen Bruner Dejean of Lafayette; 6 grandchildren: Alicia Ardoin, Christian Wilkerson, Nikki Matsoukas, Kris Matsoukas, Sierra Doucet, and Donny Matthew Nezat II; and one great-grandchild, Ava Ardoin.
