Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Elie Stelly, 98, will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, April 14, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.
The Reverend Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.
Mr. Stelly, a native Prairie de Femme and resident of Opelousas, died at 11:50AM Thursday, April 12, 2007 at his residence.
Mr. Elie was the owner and operator of the Stelly's Truck Stop in Lebeau for 52 years. He was also a farmer, cattleman, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was active in many civic organizations which included being a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order o f the Elks Lodge 1048, an usher at the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church,
a Board of Directors Member of the Planters Bank, and until last year he was serving on the Housing Authority Board in Washington.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary S. Stelly of Opelousas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Elie Stelly was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Azema S. Stelly; three brothers, Eddie, Clay, and Saul Stelly and four sisters Elise Huget, Marie Guilbeau, Eitha Stelly and Louise Lanclos.
