OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service will be held for Eldriner Guidry Smith at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas; visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Rev. Wayne Howington will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Mrs. Smith, age 93, a resident of Carencro and native of Opelousas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Smith was known for the beautiful and delicious cakes she made—her specialty being wedding cakes. Baking was her passion, but her faith and family were always first in her life. Mrs. Smith will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Smith Manuel and husband, Terry of Carencro; sister, Jane Casebonne and husband, Michael of St. Amante; 3 grandchildren, Kelly Manuel Lee and husband, Darrin of Saratoga Springs, UT, Paul Manuel of Youngsville, and Derwin Perron II and wife, Jennifer of Youngsville; and 9 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert J. Smith; daughter, Judith S. Perron Addotto; parents, Emile Guidry and Ezor Fitzgerald Guidry; sisters, Leola Guidry and Elsie Mae Guidry Forbes; and brother, James Ray Guidry.
Pallbearers will be Paul Manuel, Darrin Lee, Derwin Perron II, Michael Casebonne, Dennis Casebonne, and Paul Casebonne. Honorary pallbearer will be Max Gilbert Lee.
The family would like to express thanks to Heart of Hospice, Maggie Derouselle and Amber Morgan for the love and care they showed Mrs. Smith. Also, a special thank you to Rhonda Arceneaux who has been an invaluable friend throughout her journey.
