Elaine S. Bellemin
Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Elaine Ann Bellemin will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church with interment at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Monsignor Keith DeRouen will officiate the Mass and Deacon Jerome Collins will recite the Rosary on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Music will be provided by Richard Sellars. Selections include How Great Thou Art, Ave Maria, on Eagles Wings, Be Not Afraid, Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Elaine was a native of Kaplan and was a long time resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at her residence at the age of 81. Mrs. Elaine was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society Womens Service League the Ladies Altar Society of Our Lady Queen of Angels she also served on the Parish Council of Our Lady Queen of Angels from 1979 until 1982. She also served on the Lafayette Diocesan Council. Mrs. Elaine was a member of the St. Landry Parish retired Teachers Association. She spent 16 years in the School System as an Instructional Specialist, 13 years as a class room teacher and 8 years as Principal of Park Vista Elementary School. Mrs. Elaine loved to read and spend time with her family and many friends, especially her Pokeno group. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and is going to be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons Mickey Bellemin of Opelousas, Carl Bellemin and wife Brenda of Port Allen, Roy Bellemin and wife Lynette of Ball daughter, Gayle Cohen and husband Brad of Lafayette brother Gerald Sellers and wife Ethel of Lafayette thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ariel Bellemin parents, Cleveland and Anne Sellers great grandchildren, Madison Lane Cohen and Cooper Schwarz.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Tate and his staff, Home Instead Senior Care people and La. Hospice and Palliative staff for the wonderful care that was given.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and reopen on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 8:00 a.m until 10:00 a.m.
