Edna Mae Tatman Ryder died peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2009, in the Opelousas General Health System. She fought courageously to overcome a fall and her final journey was met with typical grace, courage and determination. She was 86. Mrs. Ryder was a lifelong Methodist who took great pride in her church. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends which she did on a regular basis when often seen dining out or shopping. She was the heart and soul of her family, the cherished friend so many will miss.
Mrs. Ryder is preceded in death by her husband, C. J. Ryder, Sr., whose accomplishments and successes he attributed to her. Her children share their fathers love and devotion knowing she dedicated her life to them with unselfish and unconditional love. They are C. J. Ryder, Jr., David W. Ryder, Jayne Ryder, and Jeanie Ryder. Her daughters-in-law, Jane Ryder and Karren Ryder survive her. She is also survived by her grandchildren: C. J. Ryder III, Connie Ryder Wiltz, Cathy Ryder Durham, Tatman Ryder Savio, Coreil Ryder Dickinson, and Jason Cohen; her five great grandchildren and her brother, Jim Tatman.
