Edmay Lou Bertrand
Opelousas Services will be held for Edmay Lou Bertrand, 80, at 2:00 PM, Friday November 10, 2006, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas followed by burial in the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas.
Mrs. Bertrand died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 1:08 PM in the Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
Mrs. Bertrand began working at Opelousas General in the x-ray department and worked her way up to a medical records transcriptionist and later retired after many years of service.
She was a longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was loving wife, mother, and grandmother who thoroughly enjoyed spending time visiting and cooking with the family. Her hobbies included arts and crafts and cooking.
Mrs. Bertrand is survived by a son, Neal Bertrand of Lafayette; daughter Karen Pilgreen and husband Ken of Lafayette; two brothers, Robert Stelly of Opelousas and Joseph A. Stelly and wife Loretta of Abbeville; two sisters Flo Fontenot and husband John A. of Opelousas and Gladys Carrier and husband Clarence of Port Barre; five grandchildren Naomi Moch, Nick Ueda, Jeremy Bertrand, Elizabeth Bertrand, and Steven Bertrand; a great grandchild Robert Mock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bertrand; parents Edwin and Caroline Robin Stelly; two brothers Irvin and Wilfred Stelly.
Nick Ueda, Jason Mock, Jeremy Bertrand, Steven Bertrand, Barry Carrier, and Jimmy Stelly will act as Mrs. Bertrands Pallbearers.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 2:00-9:00pm on Thursday November 9, 2006 and reopen on Friday at 8:00am until the service time.
