Opelousas Funeral Services for Eddie Gator Dekerlegand, age 34, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville, La. Father Gary Schexnayder will officiate the Service.
Eddie was a resident of Opelousas. He died on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at his home in Opelousas.
Eddie proudly served in the U.S. Navy where he served his country. He worked as a Fabrication Welder.
Survivors include his parents Norman and Rose Olivier Dekerlegand of Opelousas, brothers Norman Ned Dekerlegand of Houston TX., Jacob Jude Dekerlegand station in Hawaii , and Tyler David Dekerlegand, of Opelousas, one sister Naomi Dekerlegand Soileau, her husband Brook of Pineville, La, and their child Bailey Soileau.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the Funeral Home.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at
